When The Nine Patch Quilt Collective dreamed up the Sweater Weather Sampler, we knew it would be a fun, cozy project to share with other quilters. What we didn’t fully anticipate was how many amazing quilting stories and relationships would emerge once we all started sewing together.
This episode isn’t just about the Sweater Weather Sampler Sewalong.
It’s about what we keep coming back to our sewing rooms, why we share progress photos and half-finished blocks, and why quilting together—whether in real time or across space & time—matters.

It’s about the heart of one of the most special quilting community projects that I’ve been part of. Throughout the sewalong, our cozy little corner of the internet kept showing up to share encouragement, pour out our hearts, vent frustrations, and tell a few stories about how we had grown into the quilters that we are today. I was lucky enough to have permission to share some of these stories with Patchwork Revival Podcast listeners, and I hope that you enjoy hearing all about the community that grew out of this one, tiny little idea that nine pattern designers came up with to create a group project to share with other quilters. Wow, did this thing grow into something incredible!
Sewalongs are always about more than the quilts that we make.
They create space to show up consistently, to work through something hard with your hands busy, and to feel like part of something more than “just” making a quilt. They bring us together (even if we have to rip a few seams apart!), and remind us that progress is always the goal - not perfection.
